Why operations deploy
Peacekeeping operations support peace and security where the Security Council has authorized a mission. Deployment is not a decision made independently by CMOS.
From pledge to deployment
Member States offer capabilities through established UN processes. Assessment, preparation and agreements precede deployment; a pledge does not guarantee deployment.
Agreements
Personnel, equipment and reimbursement are covered by formal arrangements between the UN and contributing countries.
